About The Consultation Center at Yale

The mission of The Consultation Center at Yale is to promote health and wellness, prevent mental health and substance abuse problems, and enhance equity and social justice. For more than 35 years, we have carried out this mission through research, consultation, training, program development, and program evaluation. Our work is conducted in partnership with family and community members, mental health consumers, service providers, and other researchers as well as with community organizations, schools, businesses, and government agencies.

The Center also supports postdoctoral research training in substance abuse prevention, a doctoral fellowship in clinical and community psychology, and placement of graduate students in social work and psychology for internships and fellowships.

Yale faculty at the Center are part of the Division of Prevention and Community Research in the Yale Department of Psychiatry. For most of our history, we have also been closely affiliated with The Consultation Center Incorporated, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

The Center conducts both partner-initiated and center-initiated research and services. Read more about how partner- and center-initiated work results in collaboration.
